Lincoln's mission is to provide excellent academic instruction targeted to the needs of each individual student learner within an emotionally safe and nurturing learning environment. Our teachers are dedicated to incorporate literacy learning throughout the curriculum. By working closely with student families we encourage literacy "both day and night."
Lincoln prizes its ethnic and cultural diversity. Nineteen languages are spoken here. Consequently, our literacy program is geared for English
Language Learners, as well as for all other students who are excited to improve their reading skills. The California Early Literacy Learning and the Extended Literacy Learning programs are used at Lincoln to promote maximum literacy growth for each grade in conjuntion with the Pearson Reading Street core reading program. This research based literacy model has proved very effective for Lincoln students.
La misión de Lincoln es proporcionar una excelente instrucción académica teniendo como objetivo las necesidades de cada estudiantes individualmente con un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro y educativo. ART NIGHT – BLOCK PARTY
This year, Art Night will be held Thursday, May 24th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Block Party will start at 6:00 p.m. Come and see what the Art students have created this year and enjoy a fun time at the Block Party.

On Thursday May 24th school will be a half day students will be out at 12:50. Lincoln will be closed for Snow Day, Friday May 25th. School will resume on May 29th at 8:20 a.m.

CRT TESTING
Lincoln Students will be doing their end of year testing for the next couple of weeks. It is really important that they get a good night’s sleep and have a good breakfast in the morning. Our students need your support to have them here and on time each day

KINDERGARTEN TESTING TIME Our Kindergarten testing will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, May 16, 17, and 18th. Your Kindergarten students will not be in school these days. They will be assigned a time and date by the teacher to come in to the school for 45 minutes of testing. All students will return May 21st at 8:20 a.m.

SUMMER KINDERGARTEN READINESS PROGRAM We will be holding a Summer Kindergarten Readiness Program from June 7th through July 11th. This program is for children who live in the Salt Lake City School District who are five years old or will be five before Sept. 1, 2012. Check out the flyer coming home today!

REGISTRATION FOR 2012-13 SCHOOLYEAR
Students returning to Lincoln will register Tuesday, August 7th from 8:00 – 3:00 p.m. and Wed., August 8th from 11:00 – 6:00 p.m. All students must provide proof of residence. A lease agreement, light, gas or water bill with the parents name or family you are living with or shelter information. Students new to the area and kindergarten students will register Thur., August 9th from 9:00 – 3:00 p.m. You must bring up to date immunizations, a birth certificate and proof of residence.

TEACHER REQUEST FORMS
Teacher request forms are available in the office until May 18th. Parents must come to the office to fill the form out. These requests will be considered when class lists are filled out for next year. Many factors are considered when these lists are made and it may not be possible for your student to be in the class you have requested.

Lincoln Knitting Club CLASE DE TEJER
There is a free knitting class each Friday from 11:00 – 12:50, for adult knitters of all abilities. Come to the music room, all materials provided.
